Black Rice Production is a Swiss film company founded by Orlando Bassi with a specific story interest in bridging Europe and Southeast Asia. ​ We produce movies that connect cultures and people.

Through our sister company, Movie Studio Bali, we have access to the international standard studio facilities, technicians, and unique on the ground support in Indonesia.

ORLANDO BASSI - FOUNDER

Orlando Bassi has a long artistic career in film and television as a makeup and hair specialist, art designer and director/producer. Orlando built Movie Studio Bali – a state-of-the-art film production studio with an incredible array of equipment, editing suites, sound booth, stages and cinema: a boon for production partners in Bali. As a result of decades of experience, Orlando has developed a dedicated and skilled onsite team of expert set designers, costume makers, makeup and hair artists.

As a producer and wig specialist, Orlando has worked on numerous international Indonesian film projects. His current passion is Bali Film Land which incorporates the movie studio facilities with an analogue film lab and education centre.
