A grieving father desperately attempts to redeem himself by talking a young woman out of taking her life.
On a beautiful, remote island, Josh, a grieving father, finds a suicide letter written by Ella, a young woman. He races to the beach in the hope of preventing tragedy. Ella, determined, heads into the waves; Josh stops her by revealing her letter. They sit and watch the ocean, the letter between them. He explains that the worst thing a parent can ever experience is to bury their child; he lost his own daughter. Ella takes her letter and walks away; as she goes to toss it, a slip of paper falls—a note from Josh saying he intends to rejoin his daughter. Ella rushes back down the beach, but all that remains are his neatly folded clothes.
